The initial appointment is a free examination and consultation by Dr. Lewis. He will determine your orthodontic needs and provide you with the necessary treatment options that best meet those needs. This is also an opportunity to address your concerns and ask questions. A financial coordinator will discuss the fee with you and affordable payment plans that can be customized to meet your needs. At the conclusion of this visit you will know the course of action that Dr. Lewis is recommending, how long orthodontic treatment will take, and the cost.
If you choose to begin orthodontic treatment, the patient's teeth should be cleaned and all cavities filled prior to orthodontic treatment. We Strongly recommend a fluoride treatment to help prevent decay.
Diagnostic records will be necessary prior to your initial banding, to record the dental and skeletal starting positions. Photographs inside and out of the mouth will be taken, along with some very specific radiographs including 3D study models of the teeth. Depending on the type of treatment recommended, separators may be placed between specific teeth (usually only for the lower first molar teeth). Separator’s are small doughnut shaped rubber bands that will create space for your orthodontic bands.
Once the records are completed we usually begin active treatment by placing the braces on the teeth at this appointment.
